En el marco de la celebración de los 500 años de la Reforma, organizada por la Comunión Mundial de Iglesias entre el 28 de junio y el 8 de julio de este año en Alemania, la Orquesta de Cámara de la Universidad Reformada fue invitada especial por Latinoamérica, llevando consigo el sello de la música académica colombiana en cabeza de su director y compositor James Schutmaat.
En varios escenarios como, la Iglesia Nikolaikirche y en CCL (Congress Center Leipzig) en la ciudad de Leipzig, el publico tuvo la oportunidad de escuchar sus obras académicas inspiradas en el folclor colombiano como la cumbia, el joropo y aires del vallenato.
De igual forma, durante la realización del evento central en la iglesia de Stadtkirche (Wittenberg, Alemania), donde Lutero alentó todo el movimiento de la Reforma, la Orquesta de Camara estuvo presente interpretando obras como la HOLLAND SUITE de J. Schutmaat, inspirada en su tercer movimiento (Chorale), por las vicisitudes que afrontaron los primeros reformistas holandeses que llegaron al nuevo continente, mas específicamente a las frias tierras de Holland, Michigan, U. S.A.
Cabe resaltar que en este evento se firmó la declaración conjunta sobre la doctrina de la justificación, un acuerdo de unidad y cooperación entre los representantes de la Federación Luterana Mundial, la Iglesia Católica Romana, el Consejo Metodista Mundial, la Comunión Mundial de Iglesias Reformadas, el Consejo Mundial de Iglesias, el Patriarcado Ecuménico, la Conferencia Mundial Menonita y el Movimiento Pentecostal.
Within the context of the celebration of the 500 years of the Reformation, organized by the World Communion of Churches between the 28th of June and the 8th of July this year in Germany, the Reformed University Chamber Orchestra was especially invited to represent Latin America, bringing with it the seal of Colombian academic music, with the leadership of it’s director composer James H. Schutmaat.
In different venues, such as the Nikolaikirche and the Leipzig Congress Center in the city of Leipzig, the public was able to hear his classical academic works inspired by Colombian folklore such as the cumbia, joropo and airs of the vallenato.
Also, during the central event which took place in Stadtkirche (Wittenberg, Germany), where Luther gave start to the Reformation movement, the Chamber Orchestra interpreted the HOLLAND SUITE, composed by J. Schutmaat, the third movenment (Chorale) of which is inspired by the arrival of the first Dutch Reformed people to the New World, specifically to the cold territory of Holland, Michigan (U.S.A.)
It is important to note that during this event a joint declaration was signed concerning the Doctrine of Justification, an agreement of unity and cooperation among the representatives of the World Lutheran Federation, the Roman Catholic Church, the World Methodist Council, the World Communion of Reformed Churches, the World Council of Churches, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Menonite World Conference and the Pentecostal Movement.
